The Farm - Northern Harvest Farm

     The first season of Northern Harvest Farm began in the summer of 2005. It started out with 30 members and the vegetables were grown on 1.5 acres of rented land from John and Jane Fisher-Merritt in Wrenshall, MN. The Fisher-Merritts own and run Food Farm CSA. We not only rented land but also were able to participate in an internship/mentorship with the entire Food Farm crew. We learned a tremendous amount of hands on and experiential knowledge during our first season. We continued this relationship for the second season.
     During our second season we were lucky enough to find a 33-acre farm in Wrenshall with good soil, a cute little house, and a nice barn. We have had our share of challenges turning over sod to create new vegetables fields, but with hard work and the help of friends and family, our third season on the new farm was a success in 2007.
     We feel more comfortable at home than we ever have in the past several years. The work will always be hard, but the rewards are great. We are honored to take the responsibility to take care of this little chunk of land and use it for the good of the community.
